This bill increases the size of the University of Alaska's Board of Regents from 11 to 12 members, and requires that at least one of the 12 regents be a current full-time, tenured faculty member from the University of Alaska Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Southeast. The faculty regent will be appointed by the governor from a list of six nominees submitted by the faculty senates of those three campuses. The faculty regent's term is four years, and if they lose their faculty status, they forfeit the regent position. The bill also changes the quorum requirement for the Board of Regents from 6 to 7 members, and allows the University president to cast a tie-breaking vote.
