Under the bill, a county or municipality, at the public expense, is to provide for the construction and maintenance of sidewalks within a two-mile radius of an elementary public school and a two and one half-mile radius of a secondary public school, on all portions of the county's or the municipality's streets that are located along hazardous routes that students use to walk to and from school. A county or municipality may use funds collected from permits, donations, county, federal, and State grants, and any other funds to provide for the construction and maintenance of sidewalks as required by the bill.
