This Joint Resolution officially designates April of each year as "Autism Awareness Month" in New Jersey, a state with the highest rate of autism in the nation. The resolution, which takes effect immediately, aims to raise public awareness about autism spectrum disorders, a group of developmental disabilities affecting socialization, communication, and behavior, by encouraging citizens and public officials to observe the month with appropriate activities and programs, as requested by the Governor's annual proclamation.
