This bill would eliminate past convictions of indictable offenses as a disqualifier for jury service in New Jersey. Under the current law, such convictions, whether under New Jersey, another state's, or federal law, automatically disqualify a person from serving on a jury. The bill would remove this disqualification, making persons with such convictions eligible for jury service. The bill also requires updating juror source lists to account for this change in qualifications within four months of the bill's enactment.
