This bill requires the Coordinator for Reentry and Rehabilitative Services within the Department of Corrections (DOC) to assist inmates in renewing a driver's license prior to release from incarceration. Under the bill, the coordinator is required to notify the Chief Administrator of the Motor Vehicle Commission when an inmate is initially admitted a reception facility within DOC that is responsible for the intake and assignment of offenders to a correctional facility. The chief administrator would then be required to send to the reception facility any driver's license renewal notice for an inmate who was the holder of a valid New Jersey driver's license on the date of incarceration.
