This bill authorizes Stephen Watkins, a police officer who was employed by the Town of Manlius and is currently employed by the Town of Camillus, to receive service credit under the special 20-year retirement plan (Section 384-d of the Retirement and Social Security Law) for his time working as a police officer, even though he twice failed to file a timely application to participate in this plan. The Town of Camillus can elect to assume the additional cost of this service credit by filing a resolution with the State Comptroller within 180 days of the bill's effective date. If the Town of Camillus makes this election, Watkins can then choose to be covered under the 20-year retirement plan and receive the associated benefits. The bill also specifies that the employer past service costs will be borne by the Town of Camillus and can be amortized over a 10-year period.
