This bill updates the law regarding comprehensive sexual health education in Massachusetts. It requires school districts to adopt written policies ensuring parental notification and the right to opt out of such instruction. The bill also mandates that sexual health education provided must be medically accurate, age-appropriate, and comprehensive, covering topics such as human development, anatomy, prevention of STIs and pregnancy, consent, and gender identity and sexual orientation. The bill directs the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to update the state's health curriculum framework and establishes reporting requirements for school districts on their sexual health education programs.
