This bill adds a new section to existing Idaho law to provide for "chronic depredation zones" and "wolf-free zones". Specifically, it allows for wolves to be taken year-round in any chronic depredation zone, which is defined as a big game hunting unit where wolf depredation has been confirmed in 4 of the previous 5 years. It also designates certain hunting units as wolf-free zones where wolves may be taken year-round. These provisions are set to remain in effect as long as there are more than 20 wolf packs consisting of at least 200 wolves in the state. If the wolf population drops below that threshold, the Idaho Fish and Game Commission is authorized to review and adjust wolf management policies to restore the population.
