This bill makes it unlawful for any person to organize, sponsor, conduct, promote, or participate in any contest, competition, tournament, or derby with the objective of taking the largest number of small game, wild birds (other than wild turkeys), and domestic game birds for prizes or other inducement, or for entertainment. Any injured animals must be transported to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator or veterinarian for treatment or humane euthanasia. The remains of any killed animals will be forfeited and become the property of the department. Violations of this provision will be a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison and/or a fine of $500 to $2,000. The bill excludes special dog training areas, field trials, and similar canine performance events from these restrictions.
