This bill aims to create a deposit for glass wine and liquor bottles. The key provisions of the bill are: 1) Expanding the definition of "beverage" in existing law to include alcoholic beverages, liquor, and wine, in addition to soda, mineral water, and beer; and 2) Requiring the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs to promulgate regulations and guidelines to implement the provisions of the bill. This expansion of the "beverage" definition will now subject glass wine and liquor bottles to the same deposit system that currently applies to other beverage containers, with the goal of increasing their recycling and reuse.
