This bill allows county attorneys and assistant county attorneys to obtain a professional permit to carry weapons. Under the bill, a permit issued to a county attorney or assistant county attorney would authorize them to carry weapons anywhere in the state at all times, except on school grounds or beyond security screening stations at courthouses, subject to judicial rules and procedures. County attorneys and assistant county attorneys seeking this permit must complete a firearms safety training course and cannot be disqualified from obtaining a permit. The bill also exempts county attorneys and assistant county attorneys, along with fire fighters and emergency medical care providers, from the requirement to obtain a permit as a condition of employment.
