This bill amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to change the maximum speed limit from 70 miles per hour to 75 miles per hour on any interstate highway outside of an urban area. The bill maintains the existing speed limits of 65 miles per hour for highways with at least 4 lanes and a separation between opposing traffic, and 55 miles per hour for all other highways, roads, and streets outside of urban districts. The counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Madison, McHenry, St. Clair, and Will can still adopt lower speed limits than those established by the state.
