This bill requires the testing of white-tailed deer harvested within any enclosure in Mississippi for chronic wasting disease (CWD). A first violation of this requirement is considered a Class II violation, punishable under Section 49-7-143, while subsequent violations are considered Class I violations, punishable under Section 49-7-141. The bill also grants the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks the authority to depopulate white-tailed deer within an enclosure where CWD has been diagnosed, and to utilize lethal collection methods to obtain tissue samples for testing in enclosures within five miles of a CWD diagnosis.
