This bill amends existing law to allow a barber school or a cosmetology school an opportunity for retroactive license renewal. Specifically, the bill states that if a barber school or cosmetology school licensed under this chapter fails to renew its license on or before the expiration date, the school may request retroactive reinstatement of the license if it pays the renewal fee within 90 days of the failure to renew, there are no other causes for the license to have lapsed or been canceled, and the school pays all required costs and penalties. If the board finds these conditions are met, it may retroactively renew the school's license to the date of expiration of the previous license, and the school may continue to operate during the time period required for the board to consider the reinstatement request.
