This bill requires the Motor Vehicle Administration to issue a single registration plate to all classes of vehicles, except for certain historic and antique vehicles that will continue to receive two plates. The bill also specifies the placement and maintenance of registration plates, prohibits the display of expired or unauthorized plates, and provides for the issuance of a warning for a first violation of the terms of issuance of a Class L (historic) vehicle registration plate. The bill also directs the publisher of the Annotated Code of Maryland to make corrections related to the changes in registration plate requirements, and the bill will take effect on October 1, 2020.
