This bill amends and adds to existing law to provide for the formation and governance of any new ambulance service districts. Key provisions include: - Allowing counties that provided ambulance service prior to July 1, 2020 to continue operating under the existing law, but prohibiting counties from establishing new ambulance services under that law after that date. - Establishing a new process for forming ambulance service districts, including requirements for petitions, public notices and hearings, and voter approval. - Providing for the organization and governance of the new ambulance service districts, including the election of commissioners, duties of the board, and the levying of taxes to fund the districts. - Allowing existing cities within the boundaries of a proposed district to consent to participating in the district. - Authorizing the districts to enter into agreements for mutual aid and to charge fees for services provided outside their boundaries. - Establishing a process for the dissolution of ambulance service districts.
