This bill adds a new chapter to Idaho law to establish the Quality Educator Loan Assistance Program. The program will provide direct repayment of educational loans for eligible "quality educators" who are employed at schools identified as having critical educator shortages, either due to rural isolation or economic disadvantage. Eligible educators can receive up to $4,500 per year in loan repayment assistance for up to four years, with the amount increasing each year. The State Board of Education is tasked with promulgating rules to implement the program and determine which schools qualify as having critical shortages.
