This bill amends and adds to existing law in Idaho to require certain factual information, such as the time of birth, date of birth, sex, birth weight, birth length, and place of birth, to be included on birth certificates. The bill defines "sex" as the immutable biological and physiological characteristics that define an individual as male or female. It allows for amendments to birth certificates within one year by submitting a notarized affidavit, and after one year, the quantitative statistics and material facts can only be challenged in court on the basis of fraud, duress, or material mistake of fact. The bill also includes a severability clause to ensure the validity of the remaining portions of the law if any provision is declared invalid.
