This bill amends existing law to revise provisions regarding criminal history and background checks for daycare facilities. It requires all owners, operators, and employees who have direct contact with children, as well as other individuals 13 years of age or older who have unsupervised direct contact with children or are regularly on the premises, to complete and pass a criminal history and background check at least every five years. The bill also establishes standards for infant sleep areas, makes persons guilty of certain offenses ineligible for daycare licensure, and revises provisions regarding appeals of a suspension, revocation, or denial of a daycare license.
