This Resolution commends Jahmal Potter, a Virginia Beach native and children's book author, for his work in inspiring young people to read and learn. Potter, a graduate of the University of Virginia, was inspired by the folklore of Southwest Virginia, particularly the legend of the "Woodbooger," a Bigfoot-like creature, which led him to write his first book, "Where is the Woodbooger?". The Resolution notes that the City of Norton has embraced this local legend, even erecting a statue and designating an area as a "Woodbooger Sanctuary." Beyond his writing, Potter is also recognized for his work as a disc jockey with JGreat Entertainment and his advocacy for children's education through school visits. The Resolution directs the Clerk of the House of Delegates to present a copy of this commendation to Mr. Potter as a token of admiration for his accomplishments and well wishes for his future endeavors.
