This bill authorizes the Legislative Counsel in the Office of Legislative Services to accept proper and sufficient service of process on behalf of the State Legislature when either or both Houses are named party defendants in any legal proceeding. The bill amends existing law to add this new responsibility to the duties of the Legislative Counsel, which include providing legal assistance, information, and advice to the Legislature, as well as drafting and reviewing legislative documents.
