Bill Summary
YOUTH ATHLETES -- Amends existing law to provide that certain chiropractic physicians are qualified health professionals for purposes of returning athletes to play after suspected concussions or head injuries.
AI Summary
This bill amends existing law to provide that certain chiropractic physicians, in addition to physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice nurses, are qualified health professionals for the purpose of returning youth athletes to play after a suspected concussion or head injury. The bill requires that schools obtain written consent from a youth athlete's parent or guardian annually and that coaches, referees, and other officials review concussion guidelines. If a youth athlete is suspected of having a concussion or head injury, they must be removed from play and can only return once evaluated and authorized by a qualified health care professional.
