This bill adds to and amends existing Idaho law to provide for the issuance of a license for hotels in certain instances and to allow for certain uses and activities permitted by such a license. The bill defines a "hotel" as an actual building or structure with more than 75 rooms used for accommodating guests and at least 1,500 square feet of meeting space, excluding a commercial kitchen. The bill allows hotels to obtain a license to cater events on the hotel premises, permit the purchase of alcoholic beverages from in-room minibars or via room service, allow guests to take alcoholic beverages purchased in the lobby to their hotel rooms, and establish and operate a lounge in the hotel lobby that serves alcoholic beverages. The bill sets specific license fees for hotels based on the county's population and provides that such licenses are not transferable away from the hotel premises and are not considered restaurant licenses.
