Relative to apprenticeship programs

This bill amends Massachusetts laws to require contractors and subcontractors working on certain construction projects to maintain or participate in an apprenticeship program registered and approved by the state or the U.S. Department of Labor. The contractors and subcontractors must employ apprentices from these programs for the duration of the contract. Effective January 1, 2023, the apprenticeship program must have graduated apprentices to journey worker status for at least three of the past five years to be eligible. Contractors and subcontractors must provide written certification of compliance and documentation of their apprenticeship program to the Attorney General within 45 days of the contract award.
