This bill amends existing law to establish a digital content and curriculum fund. The fund will be administered by the State Department of Education and will provide moneys, subject to appropriation, to local education agencies (LEAs) to purchase digital content and curriculum that directly impact student achievement and improve performance. The fund can be used for curriculum programs in areas such as career technical education, character education, reading and mathematics, and activities that increase grade-to-grade promotion and enhance career and college readiness. The fund can also be used for academic text support systems. Distributions from the fund will be made on a first-come, first-served basis to LEAs that have the necessary technology infrastructure in place and can demonstrate how the funding will be used to improve performance and enhance student achievement.
