This bill prohibits the practice of conversion therapy, which is defined as any practice by a mental health professional that seeks to change an individual's sexual orientation or gender identity, on children under 18 years old or vulnerable adults. The bill requires the Minnesota Department of Health to convene a working group to develop a detailed, objective, and non-judgmental definition of conversion therapy based on peer-reviewed scientific research. The bill also prohibits Medicaid (Medical Assistance) coverage for conversion therapy and prohibits any misrepresentation or deceptive practices in the advertising or offering of conversion therapy services.
