This bill amends existing law to direct a one-time disbursement of funds from the Tax Relief Fund to homeowners who were granted a homestead exemption in the previous year. Specifically, the State Tax Commission will divide the entire balance of the Tax Relief Fund as of January 1, 2021, by the number of homestead exemptions granted in the preceding year, and make equal disbursements to the holders of those exemptions by February 28, 2021. In cases where a homestead exemption is shared among multiple individuals, they may request the Tax Commission to divide their payment equally among them. The Tax Commission may also promulgate rules to implement these provisions.
