This bill adds a new section to existing law to provide for the supervision of apprentice electricians by journeyman electricians. The key provisions are: (1) Electrical contractors must ensure that apprentices perform electrical work under the constant on-the-job supervision of a journeyman electrician, with the contractor determining how to provide such supervision on a case-by-case basis, including how many apprentices a journeyman can supervise; (2) There is no fixed ratio of journeyman to apprentices, as a journeyman can supervise as many apprentices as they can provide constant on-the-job supervision to; and (3) Failure to provide constant supervision of an apprentice may be grounds for suspending or revoking an electrical contractor's license.
