AI Summary

This bill, the Price Gouging Prevention Act, aims to prohibit selling consumer goods at excessive prices during a federally-declared emergency. It makes it unlawful for sellers to sell consumer goods, such as food, water, medicine, and personal protective equipment, at a price more than 10% higher than the price charged by similarly-situated sellers in the 120 days before the emergency declaration. Exceptions are allowed if the price increase is directly attributable to additional costs incurred by the seller or if the total price, including the seller's markup, is not more than 10% greater than the pre-emergency price.
