This bill modifies the provisions related to farmed cervidae (such as deer and elk) in Minnesota. It requires owners to immediately notify the commissioner of natural resources if their farmed cervidae escape, and allows licensed hunters to legally kill and possess escaped farmed cervidae. It also mandates that escaped cervidae killed by hunters or the commissioner be tested for chronic wasting disease at the owner's expense. Additionally, the bill requires farmed cervidae identification to include a distinct number, as well as global positioning system technology or contact information to readily identify the owner of escaped animals.
