This bill further regulates business practices between motor vehicle dealers, manufacturers, and distributors. It prohibits manufacturers and distributors from offering lower prices or better sales incentives to some dealers over others, unless the terms are equally available to all dealers in the state. The bill also restricts manufacturers and distributors from requiring dealers to make substantial changes to their facilities or locations, unless the terms are voluntarily agreed to in writing. Additionally, it limits the types of customer information that manufacturers and distributors can require from dealers, and prohibits them from unreasonably altering a dealer's geographic area of responsibility. The bill also provides compensation for dealers when manufacturers issue "stop sale" or "do not drive" orders on vehicles in the dealer's inventory, and prohibits manufacturers from charging back dealers for sales of exported vehicles if the dealer acted in good faith.
