This bill requires the Consumer Product Safety Commission to conduct a study on the impact of three-dimensional (3D) printing on U.S. businesses engaged in interstate commerce. The study must (1) identify the industry sectors that develop and use 3D printing, as well as public-private partnerships focused on promoting its adoption; (2) establish a list of federal agencies with jurisdiction over these sectors and activities; and (3) assess risks and trends in the 3D printing marketplace and supply chain. Within 6 months of completing the study, the Commission must submit a report to Congress with its findings and recommendations to address any duplicative federal regulations, promote the growth of 3D printing adoption, develop state-level policies to encourage 3D printing, advance U.S. business sectors in the global 3D printing market, and mitigate current and emerging risks.
