This bill provides protection for municipal police and fire workers during the COVID-19 emergency. It requires employers that provide "COVID-19 Essential Services" to offer alternative no-contact assignments or paid time off to these workers. The bill also prohibits discrimination or penalties against employees who refuse to work due to caring for immune-compromised or chronically ill dependents. Additionally, the bill allows workers who have used sick, personal, or vacation time with medical documentation to have that time retroactively replaced to their accrued time bank, dating back to the start of the Governor's emergency order on March 23, 2020.
