AI Summary
This bill, the Suicide Training and Awareness Nationally Delivered for Universal Prevention (STANDUP) Act of 2020, amends the Public Health Service Act to require state, local, and tribal educational agencies receiving funding under Section 520A to establish and implement a school-based student suicide awareness and prevention training policy. The policy must be evidence-based, culturally and linguistically appropriate, and provide annual training to students in grades 6-12 on suicide education, warning signs, and resources. The agencies must also collect and report data on the number of trainings, students trained, and help-seeking reports. The Department of Health and Human Services is directed to publish best practices and guidance on these training policies and provide technical assistance to the educational agencies.
