This bill, the Ohio River Basin Preparedness Act, requires the development and implementation of an interagency plan to assist states, Indian tribes, and communities in the Ohio River Basin in preparing for and responding to the effects of climate change. The plan will identify the needs of these entities, analyze the availability and limitations of existing federal resources, and provide recommendations for any necessary statutory changes or additional funding to support their climate change preparedness efforts. The bill also directs the Secretary of Energy to publish a report on the potential vulnerabilities and impacts of climate change on electric utilities in the Ohio River Basin, and to provide appropriate recommendations and technical assistance.
