Bill Summary
This bill requires school districts and the Department of Education to post information on their websites regarding student participation in the assessments developed by the Department of Education known as the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA). Under the bill, a school district must provide on its website, and make publicly available upon request, information regarding the number of students in each grade level who participated in the administration of the NJSLA and the number of students who did not participate in the assessment. The information will include the subject area of the NJSLA, the grade levels covered by the assessment, and the dates on which the assessment was administered. A school district must provide the required information on its website, and provide the information to the Department of Education, no later than 10 days after the district completes its administration of any NJSLA to any grade level. In addition, the bill requires the Department of Education to post on its website data regarding the total number of students in each grade level Statewide who participated in the administration of the NJSLA and the total number of students in each grade level Statewide who did not participate in the administration of the NJSLA. The information will include the subject area of the NJSLA, the grade levels covered by the assessment, and the dates of the testing window in which the assessment was administered. The department must post the information within a reasonable time after receiving the participation data from all school districts.
