This bill, the Protect America's Children from Toxic Pesticides Act, would amend the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) to fully protect the safety of children and the environment, remove dangerous pesticides from use, and make other changes. The key provisions include: suspending the registration of pesticides that may be dangerous if the EPA fails to complete a timely review; requiring faster reviews of pesticides banned in other countries; restricting the use of conditional registrations; prohibiting the sale of existing stocks of suspended or canceled pesticides; limiting emergency exemptions for pesticides; increasing transparency around inert ingredients in pesticide products; and canceling the registrations of organophosphate, neonicotinoid, and paraquat pesticides. The bill also empowers local communities to enact their own pesticide restrictions and strengthens protections for farmworkers exposed to pesticides.
