This bill amends Title 53 (Municipalities Generally) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to provide for the creation of public safety authorities by counties. These authorities can provide fire protection services, emergency medical services, and related administrative support, but exclude police services. The bill also allows municipalities to enter into contracts with these authorities and grants them the power to set reasonable and uniform rates for the services provided. The bill requires the Department of Community and Economic Development to develop guidelines and provide assistance for counties in starting and operating these public safety authorities.
