In addition, the bill establishes requirements concerning (1) training and education to prevent and respond to heat illness, and (2) whistle-blower protections.

AI Summary

This bill directs the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to issue a standard to protect workers from heat-related injuries and illnesses. The bill requires OSHA to promulgate a final standard within 42 months that provides at least the same level of protection as the most protective state heat prevention standard. If OSHA does not meet this deadline, the bill mandates an interim final standard within 2 years and 60 days to establish requirements for employers to develop and implement a comprehensive workplace heat illness prevention plan. The bill also includes provisions for employee training, recordkeeping, and whistleblower protections related to heat illness and safety.
