This bill requires every county agency in the State to accept vouchers for housing, food, and medical benefits issued to inmates upon release from a county correctional facility regardless of the location of that facility. The bill specifically requires vouchers authorizing receipt of subsistence benefits including, but not limited to, housing, food, and health benefits, issued to inmates released from county correctional facilities to be accepted by every county throughout the State. The bill prohibits a county agency from denying the county inmate these benefits on the grounds that the facility from which the inmate was released is located in another county. According to the sponsor, certain counties are refusing to accept vouchers for subsistence benefits from inmates who are released from a correctional facility outside that county.
