This bill would revise the language required to be included on dealer notices or purchaser receipts for the sale of replacement lead-acid batteries in California. The bill would increase the stated amount of the California battery fee from $1 to $2. Because the failure of a dealer to include this revised language would be a crime under the hazardous waste control laws, the bill would impose a state-mandated local program. The bill would also provide that no reimbursement is required for this act since the only costs incurred by local agencies or school districts would be due to the creation of a new crime or infraction.
