This bill amends existing law to require that student health plans, in addition to regular health plans, provide coverage for abortions if they already cover maternity care or services. The bill specifies that this coverage cannot be limited in any way, except for terms and conditions generally applicable to the plan's coverage of maternity care, and that it does not apply to multistate plans that do not already cover abortions. The bill also clarifies that it does not limit any individual's constitutional or statutory right to voluntarily terminate a pregnancy, and that it can be exempted if it would lead to noncompliance with federal funding requirements.
