The bill defines key terms, outlines the specific prohibited activities, and provides exceptions for certain situations, such as when the vehicle is lawfully parked or when using voice-based communication. The bill also increases the fine for violations, assesses two points against the driver's record, and requires the Department of Public Safety to use a portion of the fines to conduct public awareness campaigns on the new law and the dangers of distracted driving.
