This bill amends the definition of "agency" in the South Carolina Code to include public schools, public school districts, public charter schools, public charter school authorizers, and any voluntary association that establishes and enforces bylaws or rules for interscholastic sports competition for public secondary schools in the state. It also authorizes the State Inspector General to initiate, supervise, and coordinate an investigation of these entities only upon the request of the Governor, the State Superintendent of Education, or a majority of the legislative delegation of the county in which the subject of the investigation is located. The bill requires the Inspector General to report to the General Assembly annually on the number of investigation requests received and their status.
