This bill, known as the "Palisades Cliffs Protection Act," limits the height of new construction in the area below the Palisades cliffs east of Palisade Avenue in Hudson and Bergen counties. Specifically, it prohibits the construction or approval of any building or structure, including any mechanical structures on top, that would exceed 10 feet below the surface of Palisade Avenue or the height of the Palisades cliff wall, whichever is lower. This law aims to protect the unique views enjoyed by residents living in the historic neighborhoods above the cliffs and preserve the scenic features of the Palisades. The bill provides exceptions for proposed developments that have already received all required government approvals as of the effective date.
