This bill authorizes the use of radio communication enhancement systems to comply with minimum radio signal strength requirements for fire department communications in high-rise buildings. It prohibits the authority having jurisdiction from requiring such systems in apartments or buildings of four stories or less. The bill extends the compliance deadlines for existing buildings, allowing them until January 1, 2027, to comply with the minimum radio signal strength requirements, and for existing apartment buildings until January 1, 2030. It also provides an exception to the prohibition against installing or transporting certain radio equipment using law enforcement or fire rescue frequencies for the installation of two-way radio communication enhancement systems to comply with the requirements.
