This bill amends the Department of Energy Organization Act to secure the supply of critical energy resources, including critical minerals and other materials, that are essential to the energy security of the United States. The bill directs the Secretary of Energy to conduct ongoing assessments of energy resource criticality, the supply chain of critical energy resources in the United States, and the vulnerability of such supply chain. It also requires the Secretary to strengthen critical energy resource supply chains by diversifying the sources of supply and increasing domestic production, separation, and processing of these resources. The bill further directs the development of substitutes and alternatives to critical energy resources, and the improvement of technology for reusing and recycling these resources.
