This bill prohibits county boards, public and nonpublic prekindergarten programs, and public and nonpublic primary or secondary schools that receive state funds from discriminating against individuals based on race, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. It requires these entities to adopt and maintain written anti-discrimination policies, and provides a process for filing and investigating complaints of discrimination, including potential withholding of state funding as a penalty. The bill includes certain exceptions for single-sex schools, religiously-affiliated schools, and schools providing reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.
