This bill establishes a tax credit for individuals who incur the cost of spay or neuter services for their cats or dogs, regardless of where the animals were obtained. The credit is equal to 80% of the actual cost of the spay or neuter service, up to a maximum of $200. To claim the credit, the taxpayer must provide a receipt or copy from a licensed veterinarian in New York showing the actual cost of the service. The credit is applicable for taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2021.
