This bill amends the Public Health Law and the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation Act to require every general hospital to establish a community advisory board. The community advisory board must include representatives from the community served by the hospital and will advise the hospital on matters related to the development of its plans and programs. The bill also requires the hospital to cooperate with the community advisory board in reviewing and amending the hospital's mission statement, soliciting community views, demonstrating the hospital's commitment to meeting community health needs, and preparing and making public reports on the hospital's performance in meeting community needs. The bill also requires the hospitals and the Department of Health to make the community advisory board membership lists and the hospital's reports publicly available on their websites.
